Challenges

Cross Platform Integration

The system was developed on multiple platforms, and transmitting data between them was challenging.  Ensuring smooth communication and data exchange between these platforms posed a substantial challenge. Also, integrating new activities was another challenge and required technical assistance. Each new activity required seamless integration with various modules or components within the system. Coordinating these integrations while maintaining system stability and performance demanded technical expertise and careful planning.

Team Coordination

The project faced challenges in team coordination, primarily due to the different backend and front-end development teams. While a different team handled the backend, our squads were responsible for the front-end. This division created communication barriers and hindered the synchronization of efforts. As the launch date approached, these issues became more pronounced, leading to conflicts between the business developers and our squads. The lack of a clear sense of ownership over specific aspects of the project exacerbated the situation, with both sides feeling frustrated and uncertain about their roles.

Solutions

Content Delivery from AWS S3

We seamlessly integrated third-party activities into our system. To do so, we introduced a feature on the dashboard for uploading these activities. These activities were created using the Articulate tool. It's worth noting that we opted for a tool-agnostic approach for integration. We offered admins the option to upload entire activity folders directly from the dashboard, which were then securely stored on AWS S3. On the front-end, we implemented direct access to these activities hosted on AWS S3, enabling seamless playback and user interaction.

Integrating shared project management tools like Trello and Slack revolutionized the collaboration between frontend and backend teams, providing a seamless and efficient workflow throughout the development process. These tools were pivotal in bringing front and backend teams together in one virtual workspace. This allowed team members to work cohesively, share information, and communicate effectively, breaking down silos and promoting a sense of unity within the development team.
