Objectives.

Bee Mobile aims to provide convenient rental transportation solutions by offering rental options for electric cars, scooters, bikes, and golf carts.

Users can easily rent these vehicles for a specific duration and return them to designated stations once their rides are done. The app also provides different parking stations to customers where they can pick up a vehicle for renting/riding and park it back when rides are completed. It also has charging stations where users can charge their e-vehicles. For rider’s ease, it also offers a variety of subscription plans to users. Thus making it a convenient way to get around town!

Problems & Solutions.

Hardware Issues

At first, the hardware required for the project was unavailable as it was imported from abroad, causing delays in its development. Once the hardware was received, it was malfunctioning as some components were damaged. The issue persisted. Unfortunately, it could not be fixed locally. Additionally, the device frequently runs out of charge, and the issue continues due to different time zones

Hardware Simulator

To resolve the hardware issue, we created a simulator of hardware, a Python-based program designed to emulate the behavior of a real IoT-based scooter. The primary objective of this simulation is to ensure the uninterrupted usage of vehicles without requiring charging while maintaining their physical appearance. This program helped to replicate real-world scenarios and interactions with the IoT-based scooters, facilitating testing and development in a controlled environment.

Third-Party Dependency

The development of charging stations is contingent on a third-party dependency. While the designs for the charging station are complete and ready, the project has been put on hold due to the unavailability of the desired API from a third-party source. Unfortunately, this third-party source has not made their API available to us, which has forced us to put the entire project on hold until we can access the necessary API to move forward.

Mock APIs

Mock APIs and e-scooters were used to address hardware limitations. This saved costs and improved testing and development processes. Software functionalities were thoroughly assessed and refined before integration with real hardware. E-scooters recreated realistic scenarios, providing valuable insights and resolving hardware-related challenges. This comprehensive approach contributed significantly to the overall success of our project, ensuring that our software and hardware components worked seamlessly together to achieve our goals.

Safety Concerns

Users may have concerns about the safety of electric vehicles and personal security during rides. Users may have fears regarding the reliability and security of the transportation service, which can hinder their willingness to embrace electric vehicles as a viable mode of transportation. This challenge necessitates the development of comprehensive strategies and solutions that instill confidence in users and effectively address their safety and security concerns.

Integrated safety features include emergency buttons, real-time GPS tracking, and 24/7 customer support. Implement stringent background checks for drivers and educate users about safety protocols. By providing clear and accessible information to passengers about how to use the service safely and what to do in various situations, users are empowered to make informed choices and feel more confident about their safety while using the transportation service.
